More Flowers and the Garden (finally)!

When we moved into our house there were several perennial flowers already planted and established. Jason moved into the house before we got married during the Fall of 2007 and so because it was Fall we didn't know how many or how beautiful the flowers and plants would be. We have done A LOT of work to the yard since we bought the house. We transplanted several plants and flowers, cleaned out TONS of weeds (which is a never-ending job by the way), turned a couple of the flower beds into vegetable gardens, took out lava rock and put mulch in instead, planted new grass in a few places, etc. Although it is lots of work I am beginning to love taking care of the flowers and plants that were here as well as add my own touches! We are pretty proud of what we have accomplished and so I had to show off some of it.

Jason replenished our mulch earlier this week! I thought he did a very nice job! Here is a picture of a portion of it.

The peony plants that were here when we moved. They look gorgeous when they bloom. I swear they get bigger every year! They are on both sides of our house and in the back yard! This is just one side of the house!

Iris plants that were also here but we transplanted them. They adjusted to their new location just fine!

Garden #1: this includes, carrots, peas, yellow beans, green beans and onions. I know, I know it doesn't look like much yet! I will post the progress as it grows!

Garden #2: this includes green peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers and dill (to can pickles) :o)

Some of my planters this year. They are looking pretty good so far!

Petunias and hanging fuchsia plants.

Topsy Turvy Strawberry plants. This is our experiment this summer :o)

Patio tomato

Lilac bouquets I picked from the yard.

Not sure what these are called, but they looked cool so I picked a vase full!

This ivy that grows on our fences is one of my favorite parts of our backyard. It grows on one entire side and the back fence. It makes our yard feel private and I think it looks pretty too!

A view of our backyard while sitting on a patio chair. Love it!

Our "Home Sweet Home" :o) Nothing huge, nothing fancy, but cozy and perfect for us right now!
